Perfect for an afternoon of romance, our boats have been the scene of many a first date or proposal…but they are also a great choice for a family outing too.
Rowing boats are a popular choice for families with children, as they are sturdy and stable and there is plenty of opportunity to help row, but also to rest and enjoy the ride. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times and if older children take out their own boat, an adult must stay within a minutes row of their boat.
Rowing boats are suitable for small children – assuming there is a parent to row, and a parent to hold the child. Short sessions are advised for first trips out – speak to our staff for advice. We will carefully risk assess on the day, the current and forecasted weather, lake conditions and abilities, to ensure the safety of all customers. If the activity you have booked cannot proceed, then we will offer an alternative activity or a refund. If you wish to discuss your family’s requirements in advance of booking, please give us a call or send us an email.
Lifejackets are available for children from 6wks.
Well behaved and happy dogs are very welcome on our boats and we love to see them enjoying the lake. Please make sure that you pick up their waste. If your dog is unhappy on the water, then we advise leaving them at home.
What to bring
- On hot sunny days, we advise sunglasses, a hat, sun tan lotion and a bottle of water
- On cold days, warm, waterproof and windproof clothing is advised and a blanket for your passengers can be very welcomed.
- If your plan to land and explore the bays and islands, then a spare set of shoes can be helpful in case you get wet.
Electronics and water do not mix well. Although your rowing boat is likely to stay dry, accidents do happen. Please either bring or buy a dry bag, or leave your valuables at home. Small dry bags are widely available online or we have a selection available for sale at Nichol End.
A picnic is a popular choice on a rowing boat…or pick up a bag of scones or cakes from the cafe and take them with you.
